King of Prussia’s Charity Igloo Garden Opens Reservations for Fifth Year
KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. — Heated dining igloos are returning to the green at King of Prussia Town Center next month, pairing a cozy holiday outing with a fundraiser for a local food pantry.
Reservations are now open for the fifth annual Igloo Garden on the Green, which runs Nov. 3 through Nov. 17, the King of Prussia District announced. Last year’s event raised a record $50,410 for the Upper Merion Area Community Cupboard, the largest single donation the pantry has ever received. The pop-up is presented by Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s King of Prussia campus.
Seven heated igloos, furnished by AVE King of Prussia and Ethan Allen, will sit on the Town Center’s green space at 200 Main St., in front of Davio’s. Each igloo seats up to six guests and comes with holiday lights, festive decor and a Bluetooth speaker. There is no restaurant service; guests bring their own takeout for a 55-minute stay.
Booking an igloo requires a donation to the Upper Merion Area Community Cupboard, the township’s food pantry. The donation is $60 per igloo on Monday through Thursday evenings, and $55 to $70 on Friday through Sunday depending on the hour, according to the district. Reservations are available only through OpenTable.
The igloo garden is part of the 15th annual KOP Takes Out Hunger food drive, which runs Nov. 1 through Dec. 1 at participating locations across King of Prussia. Visitors who drop off food donations at the igloo garden’s welcome tent are entered to win a prize pack of gift cards and goods.
“Each year, the community’s support for Igloo Garden on the Green continues to grow,” Eric Goldstein, president and chief executive of the King of Prussia District, said in a statement.
The Upper Merion Area Community Cupboard operates out of Valley Forge Presbyterian Church at 191 Town Center Road. Parking at the Town Center garage is free.
