HBCU Week Returns to Philadelphia With Football Classics and Ludacris
Mayor Cherelle Parker has announced One Philly HBCU Week 2026, a six-day celebration running Oct. 26 through Oct. 31 in partnership with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The week builds toward two college football games at Lincoln Financial Field. On Friday, Oct. 30, Lincoln University faces Virginia Union in CIAA action. On Saturday, Oct. 31, the HBCU Classic pits Delaware State against Norfolk State.
Both programs are led by former Eagles stars in their second seasons as head coaches: DeSean Jackson at Delaware State and Michael Vick at Norfolk State.
The week also brings entertainment. Rap icon Ludacris performs at halftime on Oct. 30, The Breakfast Club makes an appearance, and a Battle of the Bands competition is on the schedule.
HBCU Week celebrates the excellence and history of historically black colleges and universities, with job fairs and musical performances alongside the games. This is the second annual edition.
The programming aims to support educational pathways and create opportunities for young people while fostering community engagement.
