Rams Rally Past Eagles 24-20 With Two Late Touchdowns in the Rain

PHILADELPHIA — Kyren Williams scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns and the Los Angeles Rams rallied from a 10-point deficit to beat the Philadelphia Eagles 24-20 on Sunday at a rain-soaked Lincoln Financial Field.

Williams punched in a 4-yard run with 3:59 remaining to pull the Rams within 20-17, then broke tackles on a 7-yard scoring run with 1:10 left to give Los Angeles its first lead of the afternoon, Reuters reported. Outside linebacker Byron Young sealed the victory with two sacks on Philadelphia’s final drive.

The Eagles, playing without star running back Saquon Barkley after he left with a right hamstring injury on the second snap, were shut out in the second half and finished 0 for 12 on third down with only 172 yards of offense, their fewest in more than a decade, the Wall Street Journal reported. Jalen Hurts threw two touchdown passes to Darius Cooper but completed only 12 of 27 passes for 93 yards.

Philadelphia built a 20-10 halftime lead behind Jake Elliott’s two field goals and Cooper’s juggling 18-yard touchdown catch, set up by Britain Covey’s 41-yard punt return. The drive began with the Eagles’ first takeaway of the season, an interception by Andrew Mukuba.

Matthew Stafford threw two first-half interceptions but finished 32 of 51 for 316 yards, with Puka Nacua catching nine passes for 125 yards and scoring on a 2-yard run just before halftime.

The turning point came early in the fourth quarter. With the Eagles facing third-and-goal from the Rams’ 2, Hurts bobbled the snap and was forced into an incompletion on fourth down, the New York Post reported. Los Angeles took over at its own 2 and marched 98 yards the other way, with Williams finishing the drive to cut the deficit to 20-17. At that point, trailing by 10 midway through the fourth quarter, the NFL’s win-probability model gave the Rams a 3.2 percent chance of winning, the Journal reported.

Both teams are now 2-2. The Rams snapped a four-game losing streak against Philadelphia and host the Buffalo Bills next Monday night.
