The annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Philadelphia, organized by the Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Observance Association, is a vibrant celebration of Irish culture and heritage. This year, mark your calendars for Sunday, March 10, as the parade kicks off at 11:15 a.m.!
The Parade Mass celebrated by Archbishop Nelson Perez and Chaplain Father Kevin Gallagher, procession led by Joe Tobin and the Philadelphia Emerald Society Pipe band, Bishop Shanahan High School Choir & Cantor Karen Boyce McCollum will be held at 9:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, 20th and Locusts Streets Philadelphia.
All parade participants will enter at Schuylkill Avenue and John F. Kennedy Boulevard and assemble from 20th Street to 16th Street along John F. Kennedy Boulevard beginning at 9 a.m.
The parade will commence at 11:15 a.m., starting at 16th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard and proceeding eastbound on Market Street to Penn’s Landing. The parade is scheduled to conclude at 3 p.m.
What to Expect
- Parade Route: The parade will begin promptly at 16th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard. From there, it will wind its way through the historic Independence Mall area, showcasing a colorful procession of marching bands, spirited Irish dancers, and various cultural groups.
- Grandstands and Performance Area: For the best view, head to the main grandstands located at 5th and Market Streets. Here, you’ll witness the energy and excitement of the parade up close.
- Live Broadcasts: Can’t make it in person? No worries! The St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be broadcast live on CW Philly 57 from noon to 3 p.m. Additionally, you can stream it online via CBS News Philadelphia during the same hours.
- Encore Presentations: Missed the live broadcast? Catch an encore on Friday, March 15, from 9 a.m. to noon on CBS Philadelphia, and again from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on their streaming platform.
- Daylight Saving Time Reminder: Remember that Sunday, March 10 is Daylight Saving Time! Don’t forget to “spring” your clocks forward one hour.
Rain or Shine
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a “rain or shine” event, so come prepared for any weather. Expect traffic delays during the course of the parade, especially in the parade route area. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes to avoid congestion.
Road Closures
- Participant Assembly: All parade participants will enter at Schuylkill Avenue and John F. Kennedy Boulevard. They will assemble along John F. Kennedy Boulevard, spanning from 20th Street to 16th Street, starting at 9 a.m..
- Parade Route: The parade itself will commence at 16th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard, proceeding eastbound on Market Street until it reaches Penn’s Landing. The parade is scheduled to conclude at 3 p.m..
