St. Luke’s Opens $252 Million Heart Hospital at Anderson Campus
EASTON, Pa. — St. Luke’s University Health Network opened its new $252 million Heart Hospital at the Anderson Campus on Oct. 2, the largest construction project in the health system’s more than 150-year history.
The five-story, roughly 355,000-square-foot facility adds 140 beds, nearly doubling inpatient capacity at the Anderson Campus, which opened 15 years ago. Construction began in 2024.
The hospital concentrates the system’s cardiovascular services in one building, with four dedicated heart operating rooms, one hybrid operating room and 10 interventional suites for cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology and interventional radiology, plus a cardiac intensive care unit for high-acuity patients.
“The new St. Luke’s Heart Hospital stands as an essential expression of what American ingenuity, innovation and determination can achieve,” said Rick Anderson, the system’s president and CEO. “It ensures that patients throughout our region have access to some of the finest cardiovascular care available anywhere in the world, right here in the Lehigh Valley.”
The building also serves as a Siemens international show site for cardiac imaging and adds teaching space for a new cardiac fellowship program. Campus-wide upgrades include a rooftop helipad to speed transfers to the trauma center and a larger cafeteria.
Once fully operational, the hospital is expected to support hundreds of permanent health care jobs.
Heart disease remains among the leading causes of hospitalization in the Lehigh Valley, and system officials have described the expanded teaching space as part of a long-term commitment to building cardiology expertise in the region.
