Brewers Take Command of NLCS as Dodgers Teeter

MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Brewers are two wins from the World Series. The Los Angeles Dodgers are on the brink.

Milwaukee took a 2-0 lead in the National League Championship Series with a 7-4 win in Game 2, and the series shifts for Game 3 on Wednesday night. The World Series begins Oct. 23.

The Dodgers are in danger of a stunning exit. Los Angeles is chasing a third straight championship, which would make it the first National League team to win three in a row.

Shohei Ohtani’s struggles have become a subplot. After an 0-for-4 night, reports surfaced that the Dodgers were considering benching their two-way star for Game 3, according to NBC Sports.

Milwaukee got here by beating San Diego in the Division Series, while Los Angeles needed four games to eliminate Atlanta 3-1. Andy Pages broke open the clincher with a two-run single in the seventh inning of Game 4, according to Reuters.

The Braves had ended Philadelphia’s season first, beating the Phillies in the wild-card round on Oct. 1 before falling to the Dodgers.

Now the team that ended the Phillies’ October is one loss from joining them on the couch. The Dodgers’ season is down to its final lives.
