November SSI Checks Arrived Early Today Because November 1 Is a Sunday

November Supplemental Security Income checks arrived Friday, October 30, because November 1 falls on a Sunday. The Social Security Administration pays benefits on the prior business day when the first of the month falls on a weekend or federal holiday.

Recipients saw two SSI deposits in October. The October 1 deposit covered October, and the October 30 deposit covers November. The second deposit is not a bonus. It is November’s payment arriving early.

December’s payment arrives Tuesday, December 1. January 2027’s payment arrives Thursday, December 31, because January 1 is a holiday. The December 31 deposit is the first paid at the higher 2027 rate.

The Social Security Administration announced October 14 that the 2027 cost-of-living adjustment is 3.6 percent. The increase reaches about 7.3 million people who receive SSI beginning with the December 31 deposit. The 2027 maximum federal payment is $1,029 a month for an individual and $1,544 for a couple.

The gap between the October 30 deposit and the December 1 deposit is 32 days, so one month’s money must stretch further. Early arrivals happen four times in 2027: the deposits dated December 31, 2026, April 30, July 30 and December 30, 2027. In exchange, no deposit arrives in January, May or August 2027.

SSI is a Social Security Administration benefit for people with limited or no income or resources who are 65 or older, blind, or living with a qualifying disability, including children. About 7.3 million people receive it, and about one-third also receive Social Security benefits. Working adults who earn more than $2,073 a month generally do not qualify.

People can check eligibility on the Social Security Administration website, visit a local office, or call 1-800-772-1213, TTY 1-800-325-0778. Phone lines are open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time.
