Temple Gets Its Best Chance Yet Against Winless Charlotte
PHILADELPHIA — Temple has its best chance in weeks to get back on track Saturday when winless Charlotte visits Lincoln Financial Field.
Kickoff is 1 p.m. ET on ESPN+, and it is Kids Day at the Linc as the Owls continue their homestand in American Conference play.
Temple is 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the conference under second-year coach K.C. Keeler. The Owls opened with a win over Rhode Island, then lost to Penn State, Toledo, Army and UConn around a road win at South Florida.
Charlotte is 0-6 and 0-2 in the league, one of the worst teams in the FBS. The 49ers are scoring about 16 points per game while allowing more than 42.
Oddsmakers have made Temple a three-touchdown favorite, its biggest spread against an FBS opponent in years.
For Keeler’s program, this is the measuring-stick game the schedule promised. A win steadies the season before the Oct. 24 bye and a Halloween trip to East Carolina.
A loss would be the kind that lingers.
