Two Desperate Blue Bloods Collide at the Big House

ANN ARBOR — Penn State and Michigan meet Saturday in a matchup few expected to look like this, with both blue bloods desperate for a conference win.

The Nittany Lions are 3-3 and winless in three Big Ten games. The Wolverines are 3-2 and 0-2 in the conference. Someone will finally win a league game.

Kickoff is 3:30 p.m. ET at Michigan Stadium on CBS, with Brad Nessler, Charles Davis and Jenny Dell on the call. It is Michigan’s homecoming, and the Big House is sold out.

Penn State is coming off a 31-23 White Out loss to USC that set a Beaver Stadium attendance record at 114,419. Michigan had a bye after back-to-back losses to Minnesota and Iowa.

The programs have new faces on the sidelines. Matt Campbell coaches Penn State, while Kyle Whittingham leads Michigan, and both are searching for answers on offense.

History favors the hosts. Michigan leads the series 17-10, has won three straight, and Penn State is 4-10 all time in Ann Arbor, with its last win there in 2020.

For two programs that started the season with big expectations, Saturday is about salvaging something before October runs out.
