Wounded Eagles Return Home Needing a Win Against Carolina

PHILADELPHIA — The Eagles come home to Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday desperate to stop a three-game slide that has dropped them to 2-3.

Philadelphia lost 19-17 to Jacksonville in London on Oct. 11, falling on Cam Little’s field goal at the final whistle. The loss followed an injury-ravaged afternoon that cost the Eagles their starting running back.

Carolina arrives at 2-2 coming off a bye week, rested and sitting ahead of Philadelphia in the standings.

The biggest question is Saquon Barkley’s hamstring. The star back missed the London trip and is considered week to week, and Wednesday’s practice report will say plenty about his availability.

Without him the backfield is threadbare. Will Shipley could miss multiple weeks with a partial plantar fascia tear, and Tank Bigsby is on injured reserve after core-muscle surgery.

That would leave Dameon Pierce, who played a career-high 48 snaps in London, and practice-squad call-up Carson Steele to carry the load against a rested Panthers front.

The Eagles have not started 2-4 since 2021. Sunday is about stopping the slide before the season slips further.
