SK Hynix Tops 100 Trillion Won in Quarterly Revenue for the First Time

SK Hynix passed 100 trillion won in quarterly revenue for the first time, the company reported on October 28. Third-quarter revenue reached 104.6155 trillion won and operating profit reached 83.3338 trillion won, both quarterly records.

Revenue rose 327.9 percent from a year earlier and operating profit rose 632.1 percent, according to the Seoul Economic Daily.

The operating margin reached 79.7 percent, meaning about 80 won of operating profit remained from every 100 won of revenue. The company cited rising memory prices and expanded sales of higher-value products as the backdrop for the results.

At the center of the quarter was high-bandwidth memory for artificial intelligence data centers. High-bandwidth memory moves data through a wide channel all at once, paired with the chips used for artificial intelligence computing. Full-scale shipments of the sixth-generation product, HBM4, and stronger server DDR5 sales also lifted results, Aju Press reported.

Company executives said DRAM and high-bandwidth memory volumes are effectively sold out for the next three years. That is the company’s claim, and whether demand holds for the full period is an outlook that remains unconfirmed.

A shareholder return plan came with the results. The company plans about 100 trillion won in shareholder returns for 2026, including an additional 60 trillion won announced with the quarter, according to the Seoul Economic Daily. The plan covers dividends and share buybacks and cancellations.

The market reaction was immediate. According to an October 28 premarket briefing from Invezz, South Korea’s Kospi index rose more than 6 percent on the results, and United States chip stocks also rose in premarket trading, with Micron among those mentioned. That account rests on a single briefing and has not been independently confirmed elsewhere, and a single day’s stock move does not establish that earnings and share prices will keep moving in the same direction.
