The Asian American Business Alliance of Greater Philadelphia (AABAGP), a nonprofit 501(c)(3), will host its inaugural Golden Eagle Awards Dinner on Friday, October 3 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Ballroom of LIVE! Casino & Hotel at 900 Packer Avenue in South Philadelphia.
Hosted by former NBC10 news anchor Denise Nakano and Philadelphia City Councilmember Jim Harrity, the dinner will honor four awardees who are leading companies that have made exceptional contributions to community and economic development.
David Kim, CEO of Hanwha Philly Shipyard, is a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his MBA. Hanwha Philly Shipyard has rapidly emerged as a key driver of new job creation and economic growth in the Philadelphia region and is a leading global shipbuilding company from Korea. By breathing new life into the Philadelphia Navy Yard, the company has created hundreds of skilled jobs and firmly established itself as a force revitalizing Philadelphia into a hub for advanced shipbuilding in the United States.
Ocean Kingdom represents a classic immigrant success story. Under the leadership of CEO Yong Lin, the company started as a small family business in New Jersey and grew into a global seafood distributor with $200 million in annual revenue in just over a decade. It supplies seafood throughout North America and Asia while maintaining strong ties to its local community.
Mo Rushdy, President of the Philadelphia Building Industry Association and a prominent developer, plays a critical role in strategies for urban growth and equity. He is currently leading Mayor Cherelle Parker’s $800 million public housing development project, championing new opportunities and stable housing for the citizens of Philadelphia.
The legacy of architect the late Tim Haahs continues to inspire people to this day. He founded Tim Haahs & Associates (now THA Consulting) and built it into a nationally recognized architecture and engineering firm, all while practicing his faith and service as a pastor. His professional achievements, deep faith, and global philanthropic spirit have left a profound impact that extends far beyond Philadelphia.
The Golden Eagle Awards program also features a strong lineup of guest speakers, including Mike Innocenzo, Executive Vice President of Exelon Corporation; Sihwan Ryu, CEO of Hanwha International; Mike Pearson, Chair of the Philadelphia Port Authority and CEO of Public Health Management Corporation; David Taylor, President of the Pennsylvania Manufacturers Association; and Hon. Robert Gleason, Presidential Nominee for the AMTRAK Board of Directors.
Founded in September 2024, AABAGP’s mission is to reshape perceptions of Asian American businesses and business leaders. Beyond advancing economic opportunity, the organization is committed to job creation, investment attraction, community advocacy, and building bridges across all communities to improve quality of life in the Greater Philadelphia region.
The Alliance’s leadership reflects the strength of the region’s Asian American and immigrant business communities. David Oh, former City Councilman and attorney, serves as Board Chairman. Ken Wong, businessman and former White House Commissioner on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs, serves as President. Susan Noh, real estate developer and past President of the Korean American Chamber of Commerce of Philadelphia, is Secretary. Ken Yang, CEO of Penn Asian Senior Services, Inc. and attorney, serves as Treasurer.
“The Golden Eagle Awards represent not only achievement, but also the spirit of service and leadership that benefits the entire region,” said Chairman Oh. “Through AABAGP, we are building a powerful advocacy platform that uplifts Asian Americans, immigrant communities, and ultimately everyone in Greater Philadelphia.”
